The Long Weekend.

(It’s not long enough!)
The past week has been rather slow for me at the office mostly due to the fact that the $@&*$ T/O decided to accidentally reformatted my computer by mistake. Even though I eventually recovered (almost) all my data (after spending the whole of Monday & part of Tuesday on it!), I was still extremely demoralized and just could not find the motivation to accomplish most of my intended tasks. This is compounded by the fact that my art team had to change some of their art concept and are a bit behind as well. I counted down the days, hours, minutes, (but no, it didn’t get to seconds) til Thursday 6pm – the long awaited long weekend!

And well, the reason I didn’t ‘count to seconds’ was because at 5.57pm, I saw something special in my email Inbox. The letter that I have been waiting for, for that whole of March (Well, they DID say they’d tell us by March), and almost gave up (well since March just ended and it was already April 1st). I got accepted into the Gambit Summer Program at MIT in Boston! It was like a HUGE load lifted off my shoulders!

Anyway, I’ve been spending my long weekend mostly without my laptop. (C’mon, I already HAVE TO stare at a computer screen for 8 hours+ everyday!) I taught both my students on Friday (morning til mid afternoon) and there after I skated to Pierce Reservoir with Brian and we had a Flash Forward Marathon at night. We woke up on saturday morning, and ran from my house to Mactirche and did a 4.8km there before heading for breakfast and had a nice swim at the Bishan pool after that. Then in the afternoon, my relatives came and I played majong with them for awhile. I’ll be teaching again tomorrow and running at the Stadium in the evening. Gosh, I love my weekends! =]

Oh which reminds me, Good Friday wasn’t all that good for me… other than having to teach BOTH my students on that day, the temple near my house was packed and the entire Sin Ming Ave was jammed! On my way home from work, I took a bus from Marrymount Station to go home, only to have the bus diverted due to ‘traffic conditions’! The bus did not make a right turn into Sin Ming Ave as it was supposed to, instead, it headed straight along upper Thompson Road and turned in to AMK Ave 1! Amazingly, despite the detour, the bus stopped at any stop that passengers wanted, so I alighted somewhere near the AMK Sec bus stop (the one facing Bishan Park) and walked across the park back home! Its the first time ever that something like that has happened to me! (Okay, I shall stop ranting)

Heres some photos I took on a Photography trip to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve last year. For some reason of other, I’ve never posted them anywhere… (until now of course)

    Really like the bokeh in some of these shots! Grace is getting a DSLR in June (probably Canon). Maybe we can have an AMKSS photo outing or something, together with Qi Yong and whoever has a DSLR/is interested~

      Thanks =]
      But dang, why is everybody getting a canon?
      And Yes, lets have our AMKSS Photography Outing! lol (Preferably before I leave in June yea?)

    I do hate that stretch of road. It jams up a few times every year. And it’s so damn narrow with a hump!! And congrats again on the Boston internship, didn’t know it was a collaboration with MIT. That’s gonna look damn fine on your portfolio/testimonial!

      Yes that stretch of road is very problematic! Oh and on Friday my bus got diverted on the way back home (that wasn’t too bad since I was going home), but on Sunday when I was going to work from home, I reached the aitong bus stop and the SBS guy told me that “All bus services have been diverted indefinitely, you have to walk out to Upper Thompson Rd to take bus!” I ended up running like there was no yesterday to avoid being late! Thank goodness there were no bus cancellations/diversions during school days…

      Haha, yea, the Boston thingy is at MIT, so I’ll be staying at their hostel there too. Although my school is kicking up a bit of a fuss about some stuff now… they told us not to reply to any of MIT’s emails and calls yet. o.0

        That road jammed up again today. 410/52 stopped at bishan!!

        And FYI i’m entering army tomorrow, but i’ll be reading your posts from army. Just got a data plan to surf in army haha!

        • Rey says:

          I don’t think you’d have the time to surf though… oh wait, maybe you do, since yours is the ‘non-physical’ version of the BMT… lol Enjoy the army! Very curious to find out about the C9L2 version…

          Thank goodness the whole temple visiting craze is over! But sadly, vesak day is coming soon… so it’ll happen all over again! Stupid bus diversions!
