Crossing the half-way point

Unlike the majority of poly students who are currently enjoying their 2nd day of the new school year, I’ve already crossed that point of no return. Its now Week 7 for me (out of 9 for submission and 12 for ‘official presentation’) and the stress of the past six weeks have started to tire me out. Its like climbing a mountain and being stuck in the middle – hiking up the steepest slopes, you look down but you’re too high up to see the ground, tilt your head towards the sky and the peak too, is nowhere in sight. To make things worst – You’re climbing alone (I’m the only programmer in my team), carrying all the load on your shoulders with no one to share with, no one to give you encouragement when you fall, no one to lean on. Now imagine if you had to keep changing your path, walking backwards and going round in circles, because you have no map and someone else who isn’t in your predicament said so on the walkie talkie and you have no choice but to obey. That’s exactly what I’m experiencing now.

I leave you with this picture I took during a soccer tournament in my school some months back using my 300mm.

Je m’appelle Rey. / 僕はレイです。

Okay, school has already started on Monday and thanks to the wonderful Time table planner in my school, up til yesterday evening, my time table has been changing at least twice a day! And even better, imagine a lecturer who was supposed to teach two classes at two different classrooms at the same time!

Anyway, they got that mess sorted out (at last!)…. but it seems I won’t be allowed to take French as my elective due to *censored* teacher being *censored* and other inter-faculty buearacratic and political crap. So now, I have to take Japanese all over AGAIN! (Rachel, imagine the lecturer going “あいうえお… はい!皆さん、もいちどください!” Can die from the torture, I tell you!) And did I mention I have to fork out money to buy a really lousy textbook (Japanese for Busy People)…

Okay, admittedly, I might have forgotten a good portion of my katakana (I think I still remember my hiragna), but still… And apparently the teacher that will be taking my class hates people who have learnt jap before, so I will need to pretend like I have no idea how to read/write and act totally blur and attend all classes, least I get into his black list for being smart, possibly resulting in my failure/debarment… (You’ve got to hate such authoritarian teachers!)

In any case, I will most probably still attend the French classes (Oh btw, its quite hard to pronounce the French alphabets! But do it right, and sounds really melodic) even though i wont get creditted for it…  but that is again subject to some other *censored* crap approval. That’s NYP for you.

In other news… I was emceeing for Club Crawl (just a fancy name for CCA Open House) yesterday and the day before. (Which means I actually skipped two days of school already) And of course, picture not taken by me, photo taken from August’s Facebook…

After this, I cycled out with Jay to his house to buy charcoal and fire starters and to get his wii output cable. (it was a long way out and my bike’s seat was meant for someone at least 20cm taller then me! Argh!) Jeffery took some pictures while I was away…

We climbed up to the roof trying to take a group shot using a stand (this was a failed test shot), but never got to it because…
THE POLICE CAME!!!! And we all ran down stairs… Apparently they thought we were illegal immigrants seeking refuge (thankfully they didnt think we were committing suicide or anything like that) They asked a shit load of questions and collected everyone’s IC…

Police 1: Edwin Poon?
Police 1: What is your address?
Edwin: Yishun street… erm… erm… I forgot.
*everyone laughs*
Police 2: Huh! How long have you been living there, got more then ten years anot?
Edwin: Erm…(starts counting in his head) I’m not sure leh… since… err…
*everyone laughs some more!*
Police 1: How can you not know your address?! You better think! If not I can say this is not you, and take you back for questioning!

After about half an hour of checking our ICs and asking everyone questions, Police 2 (more senior one) ended the interrogation on a very authoritarian note. Dictating that we were lucky to be ‘let off’ and that if he wanted, he had enough evidence to hold all of us and call Eric’s mom (the ‘offical owner’ of the place) down to the station for verification. (Really reminds me of Quah Poh Yong!)
