EastCoast Skate + YEP Prep

3rd Sept – Went to ECP with Xun n Jay for skating… its been a long time (last time i skated was Runway skating!)
Photobucket
At the west end of East Coast, where the path ends, the ‘extention’ toward the city will open 20th Sept… but since it wasn’t really blocked out, we decided to go in for a look…

We had subway after that. Subway meals at ECP cost only $5.50! (only 1 cookie though)

Sadly, the next day, the trip was officially cancelled due to the political unrest in Thailand… :(

Dim Sum Buffet + ECP

After several postponements, we finally went for the mouth watering Dim Sum Buffet. I chose the River City Restaurant at Peninsula Excelsior Hotel since I clearly remembered my supervisor treating me to lunch on my last day of work at the National Heritage Board and it tasted pretty darn good. (Sec 3 June 1st Job)
Despite PX’s very early planning (2 weeks advance notice!), not all of FC was able to make it. (specifically Rachel being noticeably absent)
The day out included cycling (or skating for me) at ECP after lunch to work off the heavy meal.

We were next to the runway (now, if only the trees weren’t planted and the fences would just fall off, I’d have a good shot)
Photobucket
The track being parallel to the runway, was impossibly straight and seemingly endless.

Skating + Airshow + Peiyi’s Birthday

Sat 23/2
I met up with yihui and Clarissa for distance skating today. We caught up with each other on the long bus ride to east coast park…
Photobucket
After skating down the ‘garden hill’, we got offered a packet of free milo by a couple from milo in exchange for a photo for their ad pitch.

After popping by the security tent, we got a FREE 100PLUS!!! The caterer was so nice, he even offered us muffins! (which we declined of course) So after our 2nd free drink of the day, we headed off to our final destination – Changi Village

After reaching our finish line, we ate at Changi Village Hawker Centre, where I queued for OVER AN HOUR, for nasi lemak! DO you have ANY IDEA how painful it was to stand for 1 hr after skating for 4! The queue wasn’t exactly long, its just that everyone was ordering upwards of 20packets! (im serious) The smallest order was 15 packets… The only reason the queue was moving was because ppl infront of me were dropping out! DAMM! It didn’t even taste that good, standards have dropped (significantly) since i last ate it 2 years ago..

ANW, after that, clarissa left for church and yihui and I took a bus to east coast park (again…) to meet for peiyi’s birthday!

Junwei and Yihui performing the forfeit for being the blur kings…

okay, so it was a VERY LONG AND TIRING day… and I slept at 2am and looked forward (yeah right) to go to work tmr morning… SIAN

the abrasion on both of by legs thanks to junwei’s horrid cycling skills and my decision to tag on to his bike!

OK so on the morning skate with yihui and Clarissa, we skated 24.24km… (i haven’t added the afternoon distance) :O

Working + Px House + Chirstmas @ East Coast

24 Dec
ok, so I found a Photography job online.. it involves taking pictures in hotels (13 of them, to be exact!), and it just so happened that those 13 were so far apart and highly inaccessible (no buses)

picture from the job

^^ singapore’s first world transport system!
———
after working (in afternoon), I had dinner and movie with family and went to PX’s house at about 1am… (so 25 Dec already)

we took this pic on the road outside her house (was about 2 am)

after drinking 2 n 1/4 shots of vodka (+orange juice) and a cup of red wine…. kian lam PUKED! TWICE!!!!! First time, he couldnt aim, and the puke went all over the toilet bowl. Second time round, he was conscious enough to puke into a plastic bag.
———–
after playing card n watching movies, i went home at 7am, slept at 8am, woke up at 2.30pm… :)
I moved furniture and TVs up down and around my house… then went to East coast park with family, I skated, my sis (older) jogged, the rest biked.

at the base of a steep slope sat this rooster, which quickly moved its butt to the bushes on seeing me speeding towards it.

the Changi Park Connector was open! I skated from the ECP to Changi Airport (’s runway/ control tower)

we had dinner at ECP’s Food Centre then went home to open presents! (at midnight 26 Dec)

Bishan to Yishun

after not skating since before the Os, I decided to try a distance skate from my house to North Point.

This journey of 9.9km took about 50mins…

this is the expressway after the end of YCK, apparently after some road works, someone forgot to paint in the zebra crossing, so i had to wait for a long time (look at the never-ending car flow)

the road was extremely narrow!

the canal leading to the lower seletar reservoir, just before entering Yishun South

officially entered YISHUN!

i just came up that slope

the brand new yishun park connectors!

under the MRT tracks

the Kahtib Pond

i skated through all thouse pigeons!

AT LAST! North Point Shopping Centre

i skated in to be welcomed (yeah right..) by some school choir

huanqing was working at Cold Storage to promote beer

i went to mac to fix her macbook pro!
Time taken
Home-Yishun (skate) ==> 50mins
Repair Laptop ==> 1hr 10min
MRT+ Feeder Bus Home ==> 1hr 15mins!!
———————-
ok, so by some stroke of (bad) luck, taking public transportation (at peak hr) is slower than skating (anytime)!
