The only sakae in Singapore that has buffet on Sundays is at ICON Village, and for a good reason, we were the only ones at that branch (or rather, at that mall!) throughout the entire buffet! It was dead empty… but it has its advantages though, the staff were warm and friendly and the manager even gave us both the strawberry smiles and mochi!

Okay, for those of your who did not read my previous post properly…

“Its time to enjoy my holiday (for 2 n a half whole days!)”

with special emphasis on the bold words. All my exams and assignments ended 8/8/08, BUT between 11/8/08 and 27/8/08, I would be dammed busy with my studio project (which is the last 3 weeks of each semester spent solely on ONE BIG project which counts for 4 credits or one full module)! Which explains the 3 week drought of posts…

Even though the 3 weeks were suppose to be 100% pure hard work and no play, being with RJJEX, better known as Team Imbah, it was fun and believe it or not, even though there were days we had to work for almost 40 hours without sleep, it was enjoyable and very satisfying. Imagine an ‘exam’ you WANT to take. =]

So anyway, heres some pictures we took over the 3 weeks…

YES! If you are reading this, then I am officially FREE! Thats right! ALL my tests, exams, (mountains of) projects and endless assignments – ALL OVER! You have no idea how it feels to finally have nothing to worry about. No more DEADlines! No more pressure! That oh so heavy load being lifted off your shoulders!

Well, the fact that this important day of freedom happens to coincide with the Olympics or with National Days’ eve is of little concern to me. Somehow, being in poly, I fail to feel to ‘National-Day-ism’ that I used to during this period over the last 10 years of my life. In fact, the only reminder I got that this was national day’s eve was the lack of construction noise and vibration that would normally wake me up from slumber. Instead, greeted me, the resounding high pitched children voices from Ai Tong School, saying (more like shouting with gusto) “They had no rights, they had no say and they long to be free one day!” A slew of National Day songs followed which instantly reminding me of my primary school days…

Anyway, I thought its about time I showed the world some of my final assignments for this semester.

Okay, after a not so long hiatus, I’m back! okay, the pictures I promised are still not available, so instead, here’s a video for you guys.

A few days back, on the way back from school, I was sitting at the last row of bus 162 when at Teck Gee, an unkempt old man hobbled on board. Playing solitaire on my phone, I did not notice his presence until a loud thump drove my attention to him – now, right next to me. He had thrown himself hard on the aged seat cushions which caused the area of the connected seats that I was on to bounce up. The man reeked of alcohol. I looked at him in disgust but quickly turned away, fearing he might act rashly. What was to come caught the attention of the entire bus… “Paper! What is paper?” He exclaimed, in a bit of a slur. (*paper refers to paper qualifications or certificates) Like everyone else on board, I stared at him, stunned.
The man, either oblivious to the attention he was getting or simply loving it, went on pouring his sorrows and discontent about how Singapore demands certification at multiple levels for even the simplest jobs. He lamented about his lack of qualification and was told that he had the intelligence of a Primary One child. I hid a chuckle in agreement with whoever who told him that. He then tried to comfort himself by listing out all the material possessions he had been able to obtain without the ‘Paper‘, including a 5-room flat. All this time, constantly adjusting his volume in rhyme so as to recaptivate our attention every few sentences, but also ensuring the decibel level never dropped below ‘annoyingly loud’.
Then, we all knew that we would soon be able to get some reprieve from all of this when he got up and clumsily moved towards the exit. The bus’s doors swung wide open for him as the bus captain stared at the man through his rear view mirror, he refused to leave immediately and turned around with his finger in the air. Giving one fair warning to all on board; to study hard and get that ‘Paper‘ so as to be able to succeed in life. Upon his exit, a calm silence returned to the bus and the remainder of my journey was uneventful.

Okay so was a a short descriptive of the man on bus 162. Its been a long time since I wrote like that. I miss composition and English lessons in dream studio… I miss GP lessons arguing with Any Tan in 08S25…. Oh well..

I am so proud of myself for having sat through 9hours of Maya-ing (2.30pm – 11.30pm) with an hours break for dinner. Although its still incomplete I would say I made a great deal of progress… DEADlines are looming overhead. [I can't wait for formal lessons to be over so I officially start on my studio project.]

Got plenty of pics to upload but my SD card is with my cousin, so I’ll most probably only be able to post them next week when I get it back from her.

Oh and there are 7 Hwa Chong boys (J1) in my class so the class was not as ‘old’ as my B2 one… and the teacher’s methods were pretty good… (unfortunately my vocab sucks so bad, it was difficult to understand at times)… oh well…
